Paget cancer treatment
Paget cancer is a malignant tumor that affects the nipple as well as the areola of the female breast. This type is rare, mainly in women over 50 years of age. But sometimes Paget's disease affects the breasts and young girls (in men, it occurs in isolated cases). Most often, nipple cancer occurs simultaneously with a breast tumor.
Varieties
Israeli doctors distinguish several types of Paget's disease, which affects the breast and causes nipple and breast cancer. These are the following forms:
an acute form of eczematoid, when a small rash forms near the nipple, (sometimes wet sores);
a chronic form of eczematoid, when crusts form near the nipple (if they are torn off, they will remain weeping areas);
psoriatic, in which a pink rash (papules) with scales on top appears;
ulcerative - ulcers that do not heal for a long period and gradually grow in size are formed;
tumor, accompanied by the appearance of a neoplasm near the nipple.
Do not confuse this type of cancer with the disease of the same name - Paget's metabolic disease, which causes deformation and weakening of bones.
Causes and factors
There are a number of factors affecting the development of such tumors:
genetic location;
partial injuries of the areola and the nipple itself;
carcinogens;
the presence of cancer on the cervix;
scleroderma or pemphigus disease.
There are also two main theories and the occurrence of this disease.
According to the first of them, which is usually adhered to by Israeli doctors, cancer cells come from the mammary glands (most often Paget's cancer is accompanied by breast cancer). According to the second, the cells degenerate into malignant cells on their own.
Symptoms
During the early stage of the disease, symptoms appear mild, often without causing discomfort. Basically, the symptoms that require diagnosis for Paget's cancer include the following symptoms:
redness, skin irritation, peeling of the skin;
sores and crusts;
retraction of the nipple "inward" or its significant hardening;
fluid oozing from the nipples;
lymph node growth;
pain.
Most often it manifests itself as a small sore near the nipple or a small erosion that does not heal for a long time. If this lasts more than 7 days, you urgently need to consult a doctor.
