What is nasopharyngeal cancer and where to treat it
Nasopharyngeal cancer is a malignant tumor that affects the area between the mouth and nose, as well as the paranasal sinuses. It most commonly affects epithelial tissue, but it can also affect lymphatic tissue. This pathology is quite rare in Ukraine, Russia and Israel. Much more often oncology is found in Asia (in particular, China) and Africa, where a huge amount of piquant spices and seasonings are traditionally added to food and drinks that injure the mucous membrane.
The exact reasons for the onset of the transformation of the epithelium into malignant cancer cells scientists have not identified. Israeli doctors argue that factors that increase the likelihood of malignant tumors of the nose, skin near it and paranasal sinuses are:
smoking;
dietary features;
unfavorable ecology .
Most often, nasopharyngeal cancer stage 2 and 3, as well as formations in the maxillary sinus stage 4 are found in people infected with the Epstein-Barr virus. In general, a similar disease is more common (10 times) among men, in particular children, as well as over 50 years old.
What types of neoplasms are
treatment of nasopharyngeal cancer, subdivide it into the following types, based on the type of tissue affected:
carcinomas formed from the epithelium;
sarcomas or tumors arising in soft tissues;
bone and cartilage formations;
tumors of lymphatic tissues.
Sometimes mixed tumors are formed, from two or more types of cells. Also, malignant tumors in the nose are subdivided depending on where exactly they are located on the nasopharynx: on the anterior, lateral and posterior walls, maxillary sinus, etc.
What stages of the development of the disease are distinguished?
The disease is insidious in that it can affect all surrounding tissues, even penetrating the cranial bones. In the course of development, nasal sinus cancer goes through 4 stages:
Stage 1 - cell mutation and their spread through the tissue of the nasopharynx;
Stage 2 - damage to the palate, nose, tonsils, further spread to the lymph nodes ;
Stage 3 - damage to the nasal bones, the development of oncology of the maxillary sinuses, the spread of metastases to the lymph nodes of the neck;
Stage 4 - damage to the cranial nerves, upper jaw, internal tissues in the eye area. At the end of this stage, metastases reach the liver, as well as the lungs.
Symptoms or how it all manifests itself
At the beginning of oncology of the nasopharynx, there are no manifestations of this. Then the symptoms are similar to inflammation, therefore, skin cancer and swelling of the tissues of the nose, which requires mandatory treatment, are often confused with the usual, simply prolonged acute respiratory infections.
The symptoms are as follows:
nasal congestion without a runny nose, then the appearance of snot;
the appearance of pain in the ears, as well as in the throat;
ringing, as well as tinnitus, hearing impairment;
severe migraine and a feeling of discomfort in neck area;
sore throat, difficulty speaking.
As the tumor of oncology of the nasopharynx reaches the size of a chicken egg, it can be felt tactilely on the neck or maxillary sinuses. The latter stages are characterized by blood in the saliva and from the nose, difficulty speaking and harsh bad breath.
Effective cancer treatment
Since tumors in nasal cancer vary greatly in cell composition and site of injury, treatment of the nasopharynx should be carried out only in specialized clinics, for example, in Israel. In view of the same factors, treatment for each patient must be selected strictly individually.
Therefore, you should not go to the first clinic you come across, but entrust the analyzes and diagnosis to the specialists of BK Medical Logistic, who cooperate with the best Israeli clinics.
