Adenocarcinoma of the stomach - what is it and how to deal with it
The most common type of cancer of the digestive system is carcinoma (cancer) of the stomach, which requires mandatory treatment. Adenocarcinoma of the stomach is an oncology in which a malignant neoplasm develops in the epithelium of the mucous membrane. The place of tumor formation is variable: it can appear in different parts of the stomach. Anything can have an adverse effect on its development - an ulcer, gastritis, duodenal disease. Usually stomach cancer occurs in men, and in the elderly.
What varieties are identified by experts?
Israeli doctors distinguish several types of adenocarcinoma (glandular cancer) of the stomach: mucinous, papillary, and tubular.
In turn, each of these types is subdivided into the following subspecies (the difference is in how differentiated the tumor is):
- highly differentiated gastric adenocarcinoma, requiring compulsory treatment (it is specialized Israeli clinics);
- moderately differentiated gastric adenocarcinoma;
- poorly differentiated gastric adenocarcinoma (this carcinoma is poorly identified up to stage g3 or 3, it necessarily requires treatment, the best of which is chemotherapy in Israel);
- poorly differentiated gastric adenocarcinoma;
- undifferentiated gastric adenocarcinoma.
The cricoid form of gastric carcinoma, dark cell (usually rapidly reaching g3 or 3 stages), invasive form of adenocarcinoma of the stomach (clearly manifested at g2 or 2 stages).
How do the stages of gastric carcinoma differ?
The nature of this disease changes significantly as it progresses development. Israeli clinics divide the development of stomach cancer into 5 stages.
Stage 0. Zero or precancerous stage is almost impossible to diagnose. At this stage, cancer inside the epithelium is just emerging. Therefore, mutating cancer cells can be detected exclusively in the surface layer.
Stage 1 or early. A tumor develops in the mucous membrane, sometimes muscles affecting and lymph nodes. If the diagnosis is successful at this stage (the highest success rate is achieved in Israeli clinics), the prognosis for recovery after therapy is 95%.
Stage 2 (g2). During the development of the second stage of stomach cancer, the tumor affects the gastric wall, and it can also affect the lymph nodes. When diagnosed at this stage, the chances of a life span of more than 5 years are 50%.
Stage 3 (g3). Spread of the tumor to nearby organs. Positive forecasts from 15 to 40%.
Stage 4 (g). Stage 4 gastric carcinoma invades organs near the stomach and also spreads to distant tissues. In stage 4 adenocarcinoma of the stomach, the positive prognosis is not more than 5%.
